Affordable housing is becoming increasingly rare, with only 35 affordable units available for every 100 low-income households. Too many people are at risk for homelessness, and others are being pushed out of their neighborhoods.

Tamer supports:

  • Lifting the ban on rent control

  • Funding Transit-Oriented Developments and requiring at least 50% of units to be affordable

  • Pressing municipalities to change zoning codes that allow for single-family-home-only zones, which greatly reduces the supply of 2-flats, 3-flats, and medium- and high-density developments

  • Establishing tax incentives for affordable rental homes

  • Restoring funding for homeless prevention to pre-2008 levels
